SOLARIZATION OF AGRICULTURAL TUBE WELLS

INTRODUCTION

A Solar-powered tubewell is a tubewell running on electricity generated by photovoltaic panels or the radiated thermal energy available from collected sunlight as opposed to grid electricity. The operation of solar powered tubewells is more economical mainly due to the lower operation and maintenance costs and has less environmental impact than pumps powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE). Solar tubewells are also useful where grid electricity is unavailable or expensive and alternative sources do not provide sufficient energy.

ADVANTAGES OF USING SOLAR INSTALLED TUBE WELLS

  • Solar power is a renewable and natural resource
  • Solar power does not pollute
  • Light and energy from the sun costs nothing
  • Solar cells do not require a lot of maintenance
  • Solar cells can last a lifetime
  • Solar power is the energy source of the future
  • Solar panels require small amounts of space
  • Solar power run a tubewell without an electric grid

Consideration of 700 farmers for irrigation water pumping byadopting solar technology

TARGETED IMPACTS

  • Procurement and installation of 700 Solar systems for existing/new Tube Wells which will cut the electricity/fuel cost of the farmers on irrigation.
  • It will benefit the environment because fuel and its residual will be ended.
  • Farmers will get more benefit from selling water with less financial input.
